Does anyone know of a reproduction battery tray available for the Maverick? My current one is a total loss due to corrosion. I was thinking of moving the battery to the trunk, but a replacement tray would be so much easier.
Yes, AutoKrafters has one. I don't know offhand if you'd have to use your brace or if they come with a new one.
You have to reuse the original bracket ... drill out the spot welds ... then weld it to the repop tray ...
rocco, if you will ship it to me I will spray it with bedliner material and it will resist the corrosion, I will spray it for $15.00.
Here is a "How To" I did awhile back ..................... http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showthread.php?t=18559
i seen a friend of mine use one for a '67 mustang. they're repopped for about $8 and his fits good...
Wow, thanks for all the responses. You've given me lots of options on what to do, and even a how-to. Fantastic.
I plan on "making" one for my comet. I'll update pics when I do. I'm not going for original look though. If you don't want original...then it should be an easy build. My cancer in my battery tray exteded up into the side as well, I gotta cut out about a 3" section.
Rocco, Wayne sprayed my battery tray with the bedliner material and it turned out awesome. I would highly recommend it. I believe it solves the "rot out" problem from battery acid once and for all! I have some photos posted, check them out at this link: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=19999&highlight=battery+tray+bedliner Art
Wayne, can you spray pretty much anything? I have some glass fenders I was thinking of getting done that way to keep them from starring when rocks fly up from the tires.
Battery tray update.... I just received back my "second" battery tray that Wayne sprayed with plastic bedliner, and it's awesome. I'm just as excited as when I got the first one done! Wayne does an excellent job, pays attention to the details. I highly recommend him and his business "Custom Truck & Trailer". Thanks again Wayne! Art
