If anyone has any pictures of a drag parachute mounted on the back of a maverick (one that's actually been sucessfully used), I would appreciate if you would post it or email it to me. prostroker@aol.com Thank You
aaauuu yea Stephen I get you a picture of mine tonight..... and thanks for making me spill my drink with you new email address Todd
Well, i've been told that if it's too high it will lift the back of the car off the ground and if it's too low it will lift the front of the car off the ground......soooo, i'm just trying to get some good info on where to mount the chute strap......some have said that it should follow the centerline of the crankshaft, I think that would put it too low?? Any info on this would be appreciated, I would hate to have any mishaps!
That makes sense...Just based on vectors I would guess that it should be the same distance off the ground as the center of gravity of the car. Sorry I don't have any real experience or pics.
usually somewhere from the center of the rear bumper up to a couple of inches above the top of the bumper usually does just fine. there is usually a cross piece of frame in that area you can mount it to, maybe after some bracing. my car has the mount about 2 inches above the top of the bumper (tbird), right thru the lower edge of the lic plate holder. works just fine. rules say i must have it; almost never use it.
Inline with the cmashft centerline or run it right off the rear end housing..Shane Stack has it like that...
my son usually runs the mav down there when home from college in pa, but this summer he has to stay up there. he only made it to capitol twice so far this year, & might get there in august a couple more. i got my car out finally & went to the divisional at atco 2 wks ago. might get to cap a couple of times later in the summer. also hope to do the div race at cecil & dutch classic at maple grove. have to do some corrections to problems found at atco. do you go to cap much? what class do you run?
