Oh, well that's too bad - because a 3.8 with an Eaton Supercharge (like the T-Bird SC) would be a lot of fun. It's hard to believe the 2.3 would be cramped - but I believe it.
thanks for all the info, think i'll stick with my six. i found a mild performance setup on classicinlines.com that i think i'll use. if i use an AOD tranny behind a mild six it shouldnt hurt my milege too much.
I just wonder though how well a 6 would really run with an AOD? I've always understood that AOD's weigh more and have quite a bit more parasitic loss then C4's. Would that extra friction in the drive train cause worse gas mileage, indifferent, or have no noticeable effect if the engine is tuned and modified some to overcome that? This is just something I've always thought about when I see someone mention putting an AOD behind an old I6. I would love to drive that combo just to see what it's like.
Wow, I did something right, that's awesome I have a loose line on another maverick, and I really want to drop a turbo 4 in one BTW, I built mine with mostly junkyard/donated junk, and did the grinder work myself, results were better than I ever expected, of coarse, I run a 15.6 down the track with the right rear spinning the whole way
4 banger if i did drop a 4cylinder in my car i would have it bored out and holley equiped. if i did go the 4cylinder rout what kind of trnny and motor mounts could i use. i herd that only brazilian mavericks came with 4 cylinder engines.
Just thinking out loud here... Has anyone considered Pinto/Stang 2 engine mounts? Last I saw, Stang 2 mounts for a 302 are similar to our 302 mounts. Maybe the 4 cyl stuff could be made to work??? Just a thought.
You'll have to use a donor car like a Pinto, Mustang II, T-Bird Turbo Coupe, or a Fox body Mustang (I'm sure there are other models that I've missed). A turboed 4-banger with a five speed would be fun to drive. You are going to have to fabricate to get a four banger in the Maverick no matter which way you go.
Yeah, Hawko is dead on about fabbing. I was just wondering if some mounts would require less fabbing than others. I would think that Pinto mounts are closer than Fox mounts, for example.
not to stray here... there was an article in this months readers digest about micromiling. the individual in the story actually got 150++ mpg.!!! i tried to post the link(its an interesting read) but i couldnt find it. now back to our regularly scheduled program.
buy a hybrid, i think gas milage should be one of the last things to think about on these cars, unless its your only car
Sorry that won't work for me most of my commute is highway only. So that being said it would be cheaper for me to spend about $7,000 less(yes 7000 Focus starts at $14,300, Prius hybrid starts at $21760) get 37 mpg versus 45 mpg on the highway granted yes the prius gets better gas mileage but the cost per loan per month versus the cost of the fuel per month I would save about $100-$200 per month, that and I just can't stand the thought of driving a Toyota.
it's my only car and i dont plan on buying another car. i coludnt afford to buy another car if i wanted to im in college(19yrs old). if gas gets too high i'll just drive my dads ford festiva or the rav-4 and just use mine for showing off in front of the girls on weekend. its not doing to bad right now i just need to keep my foot out of it
