Hi, We will need some info from you:

    1. what kind of Carb, intake?
    2. dizzy, point or electronic, type of wires, coil?
    3. Fuel pump mech, or electric?
    4. Where is the timing set?
    5. What is the Vacuum reading?
    6. did you set the airscrews with a vacuum gauge? If you use a vacuum gauge to set airscrews it will not be lean or rich. It will be set to your engine needs.
    7. have you pulled your plugs to check the color?
    8. check all intake bolts, carb mounting bolts.
    9. Check all vacuum hoses for cracks and are connected.
    10. save this one for last. The fuel sock on the fuel pick-up in the tank is clog. let hope not.
    11. Can you hook a fuel gauge up right after your fuel filter and before your carb inlet?

Remove the tank, drain the water and alcohol out of the bottom of it and remove the sock filter. Then flush all the lines and put a new filter on it. My bet is that will fix your problems. (other than the steering problems)

Bet it's either the carb's accellerator pump circuit not adjusted properly and/or the timing's retarded.

The Edelbrock 600 CFM carb doesn't have and accelerator pump - it uses metering rods and jets.
There is a problem with a lean condition when the engine demands fuel.... since everything but the tank is new or checked then that leaves the tank and those components in the tank.

    1. All caerbs have a accelerator pump.
    2. get a gallon gas can.
    3. disconnect you "in side" of the fuel pump hose.
    4. put the "in side" of your fuel pump hose in a gas can
    5. start the car and let it warm up.
    6. when warm ,rev it.
    7. let us know.
    8. do you have a point dizzy?

OK, I am a Holley man whose only experience on the Edelbrock is when it was the AFB - long ago. I will look at some specs and get back to you.....

OK, I'm back and blushing. Yes it does have an accelerator pump - (it doesn't have a power valve- that is what I was remembering and I transferred it to the accelerator pump)
So, I am going to slink away back to the corner and stay there until I am asked to come out.:ignore:
