I that wasnt the problem It wasnt running lean while giving it the bottle. A rod just broke just before the rod journal n the crank. My guess is that to many RPMs n trying to build a motor on a tight budget
Were they stock rods? Very common place to break, stock rods will not hold up to nos and high rpm's. Also if there is to much crank lateral movement(end play) it will sometimes put a bind on the rods as the r's go up and can contribute to the rod breakage point. Don't feel to bad about building the engine on a budget, we have all been there and most of us have had the same desastorious racing stories. Lesson learned over the years, "Pay it now or really pay it, later"
No they were not stock rods, They were second hand off my friends 302 that he smashed. my crank didnt have any endplay, I think it was just fualty equiptment. OH well.............................................. Time to sell my cadi and put that money into a new motor.
i found a 4.6 all aluminum with FI heads n cam with bullet intake for a decent price. How would that go in a mav??? that of a 351 with the same set up as my 302. What do you think
came across an 81mm Borge Warner turbo with manifolds for a 302 or 351. that seems like it would be alot of fun.
