    Hey mav and comet lovers,

    I have a 72 comet with 4 lug rims. 3 questions:

    1) whats the widest rim that can fit on it?
    2) I heard ford rims will fit on it...however I saw some cool ones on a 85 mustang (4lug), but some guy said they wouldnt fit the comet, is this true?
    3) where can i find some cool 4 lug rims that'll fit my car?

    Thanks for all your help!!!!

On the older 240z260z280z cars they ran a 4x4.5 or 4x114.3 pattern with zero offset. There were a lot of aftermarket wheels sold and are still sold. I have seen some really nice wheels go cheap and some of them are 7" wide which would fit a fairly large tire. Thats about as wide as you're going to find, maybe an 8" but I am not positive on that. Check ebay type in 280z wheels. I do not know about the center hub hole on these wheels though. I haven't looked into it because I am a long way from being able to buy new rims for my Maverick. I am still working on getting it running for the first time in 25 years.

Since 74, Mustang 4 lug are not 4.5" I believe they went to 4.25. There are some 8" wheels out there, I have a set. I would look for no more than 4" of backspacing.

Only problem is 15x8 may be too wide for the front. Also once you bolt them on, what are you going to do about the 4 extra holes?

If Datsun Z wheels will fit, so will early Celica/Supra wheels:

Don't know the hub size, but I have seen these on early Z's and they are 7" wide.

I have the supra wheels on my mav. I had to have the center taken out a bit to make them fit. Not the best pics, but this is what I have.
