Dave, I seek your approval since you poked fun at the last Honda I bought. Or would you just poke fun regardless because it's a Honda period? :rofl2: I still kind of regret selling that car, it was super comfortable to drive and got great gas mileage, but the brown interior and the overall lack luster of the car just wasn't doing it for me. It's now transporting my cousin back and forth to Kennesaw State University.

Another Craigslist find, guy has it listed at $500, bet I can get it for less.

1988 Accord LXi 2 door hatch:

Don't know what the mileage is yet, most of them are north of 200k at this point, but it looks to be in great cosmetic shape for the price. Sounds like the engine is toast (it was overheated), has a 5 speed manual trans. I have a wrecked '89 Accord LXi with a perfect engine in it, and the factory LXi alloy wheels. I could combine the cars and come out with a pretty nice little car for very cheap. I'm thinking the same thing as the last one, buy it, fix it up some, drive it for a few months, flip it for a profit. Then I could finally send that '89 LXi 4 door body to the scrap yard, which I just can't bring myself to do because the engine just runs SO good in it.

Probably going to look at it, and possibly buy it Friday, if it hasn't sold by then.

At some point, maybe this year, the Mav I'm currently driving with it's crappy body is going to have to be taken apart, because it has most of the parts I'm going to use on my other Mav on it. Then I will be left without a vehicle. It's looking like I'm going to have quite a few days off over the summer due to things being slow at work, and I plan to go full blast on that '73. The money is not an issue, I've been saving up money for a couple of years now.. I can do an engine swap in this Honda in a weekend like I did the Nissan, everything in these little foreign cars is just plug and play. Plus I already have the engine, so the only money I'll have into it is the cost of the car itself.

a car like that at that price would be snatched up by the ricer crowd around here faster then you could post it up

if the lackluster-ness of the last honda turned you off though i cant imagine this one being much better in that department. it is a 2 door though so thats a plus over the accord

Jamie, If you need part numbers or even parts I might be able to help! 23 years behind the parts counter @ a Honda dealer. These cars run forever but parts for the 88 are gettin real hard to find. I have a 91 Civic SI hatchback with over 200,000 miles and it is still in super shape and runs like new. It should last at least another 100,000 or more.

Well, I love it.. I actually love all of those old japanese hatchbacks; Nissan Silvia s12, Toyota Corolla AE86, Celica Supra and so on.. I've never seen an Accord coupe before, think it looks cool myself..
And those Honda engines are bulletproof, it's the rust that kills them..

The last one was BROWN and it was a 4 door, plus it was a 2nd generation which was just about the most boring styled car ever built I think. At least this one is blue, and it's a 2 door hatch with the more aerodynamic nose and flip up head lights. The third generation Accords are alot nicer in about every way then the 2nd gen IMO. I know I really like the '89 I have, and I would rebuild it in a second if weren't a 4 door, and the frame wasn't bent so bad.

Not hard to find stuff for them around here, if you don't mind using good used parts. There are 100's of these cars that go through the local junkyards every year.

Well, to an extent, just seeing if I could stir up in any s#!t. :rofl2:

Rust isn't a problem around here, thankfully. I'm sure this car is 100% rust free.

And... it's a done deal. Just got off the phone with the guy. He's going to hold the car for me, he's about to pull the ad off craigslist. He's just waiting on the title to come in the mail for it, hopefully some time this week or next, then he's going to call me back to come get the car. Car has 325,000 miles showing on the odometer, but he said the odometer hasn't worked in the 3 years he's owned the car. He said the interior and everything is just in unbelievably nice shape for the age and amount of miles the car has.

That looks like a really nice car, never knew you could get a Honda with a 6 speed. Don't think I could pick that one up for $400 like I did this one, though. :D

What Dave? Not me, that's for sure. I'd never poke fun at such an ugly car, I feel sorry for it, someone should put it out of it's misery. Reminds me of this cat.

You just wait until I get the 6 foot flying nun plywood spoiler all fabbed up and nailed to the trunk. Then spray bomb some neon green racing stripes on it and spray bomb the wheels red. A MAD TITE JDM SHIFT KNOB and Maxwell House coffe can on the exhaust should really pull things together well. You'll see!! Then once I get the NOS, FLOWMASTER, and a hundred other stickers for parts I don't really have put on, better watch out son, she'll be a real race car. You just wait.
