    Hi everyone!

Well my Maverick doesn't get a garage as much anymore, due to my current situation. I hope to remedy that soon, but in the meantime I want to get a nice car cover for it. I've been meaning to do this for awhile, and now's a good time. My paint isn't what it used to be, but at least I can keep the interior and dash pad in good shape and out of the sun.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am willing to spend a few hundred for something that fits well and lasts a long time. But I'm hesitant to do so for something I can't see a photo of on a Maverick.

My biggest concern is the antenna; it's not easily removable and I do drive my car a lot. I don't want to be messing around with it all the time. I suppose I could install an antenna hole but if I'm paying big bucks I'd hope the cover has one already.

    Thanks! :thumbs2:

I would suggest installing a power antennae. I have one on my car and I love it. Very easy to install.

    Hi Craig-

I never really had a need for a power antenna, I don't even have power brakes or steering! :) Although if it becomes a pain with the car cover I might consider it.

So nobody has any experience with a custom car cover? Maybe I'll just have to bite the bullet.

I just cut a small hole in my cover and let the antenna poke through....

Antenna with a spring right? Tuck in under the rain gutter lip.

Don't most covers come with an "iron-on" patch that goes around where you poke in the antennae hole?

the cover I have has the hole for the antenna (y) It was/is one of those cheapies they sell on ebay. I just use it to keep the dust of it in the garage.

    Hi Charlie,
That looks like a really nice cover. I generally just buy the eBay cheapies but my car stays in most of the time anyway. Mostly just to keep the dust off.
The worst thing about spending $300 or more for a cover is I would worry how long it's going to hold up to the sun...but that two-tone one IS sharp! :)

No spring, I don't know if it's for 1970 only but it's a solid antenna and you have to pop off the trim plate and remove two screws to take it off.

Yes I have seen covers with the antenna hole and/or iron-on patch, I also hope that this cover will come with a proper hole (for the price), but I don't know....

I'm going to bite the bullet today. I'll let you guys know how it works out! (y)

Thanks for the link; I'm guessing that they actually make the cover I am buying. it looks similar:

Luckily it is also a similar price, so I don't feel ripped off.

The only thing that concerns me is that site asks for 2 door or 4 door, and mine didn't. I guess I'll send my place an email to clarify.

I ordered a cover from California Car Covers (for my 67 Cougar) don't know if they have for the Maverick. Cost about $300. After about 4 years in the California sun it started to tear. California Car Covers replaced FREE of charge. All I need to do was call. They had all the information in the computer. All they requested was that I send them a 4" x 4" section of the old cover. Had a replacement within a week. Highly reccomend.

Well, I got it in. it's a nice cover. Fits well. Very light and thin so I hope it is as durable as they say.

No antenna hole, I expected as much. I used a screw cover I found at Lowe's as a grommet and put an o-ring inside it. Hopefully it works well. I hated poking a hole in a $350 cover.

My only beef is I ordered black and silver and they sent me black and blue, but it's not worth the hassle to return it.
