Anyone know anything about the 03+ Lincoln LS'? Like, how hard it would be to swap the V6 out for the optional 3.9 V8 that came in them? Our 2004 LS V6 just ticked over 170,000 miles and it's getting pretty tired, especially the transmission (engine has unknown mileage as it was replaced previously at 63,000 due to a screw up at an oil change place). The transmission jerks violently and holds out shifts some times, and at times it slips badly. Even though I just did a full tune up with new plugs, coil packs, EGR valve and a few other things, the engine runs rough sometimes and the fuel economy is way down from what it used to be. There is also considerable play in the steering that seems to be coming from the steering rack itself.

Found a guy locally that is selling a wrecked '03 LS V8 with low mileage that's totaled out. Car runs great and shifts smooth. Very cheap, and has tons of parts I could use to freshen ours back up. Just not sure what's involved with going from the V6 to the V8. Can't find any evidence anywhere of it ever being done before.

No. The whole damn thing is hosed, and it needs an SHO engine.

Change the engine out cradle and all...PCM/BCM and harness from donor car and you should be good to go.You should only need engine/trans harness from donor car.
    SHO Lincoln...That sounds like fun!!!

Probably be easier to use your car for a parts car to fix the other.

They sold the car before I got up there today. They had another '03 V6, with 30k miles, but it was hit extremely hard in the front, engine and trans were pushed back which cracked the block, and weather the transmission was any good or not was questionable. Doors had some minor damage as well, so passed on that. Keep on looking..

    The car was not repairable.
