I am going to have to buy one since most tracks require them now. I was planning on a g force but figured I would get some opinions before I buy one. My budget is around $150

Make sure it carries the SFI2007 rating and you should really have it fitted.
Here is a picture of my PyroTect. I use this in SCCA racing along with my SFI3.2/5 double layer suit......................"it never hurts to be safe, who knows; the life you save may be yours"!

Bell makes pretty good helmets for a decent price. Definitely try them on before buying.

I would not recommend using a motorcycle helmet. They're typically made out of lighter materials and use a minimum amount of outer shell plastic. A car helmet will be heavier, but will also offer more protection.

Guess I forgot to say in my earlier post that G-Force is a good brand and
very reasonably priced. Also, as ATOMonkey said, a lot of motorcycle helmets do not have the SFI2007 label and are not suitable for racing.

I have worn a G-Force open face helmet in my Stock Eliminator car for 4 years. It has been a good value in my opinion.

    Don't buy a Snell 2000. They expire in 2012. A Snell 2005 expires on 1/1/2017, And a Snell 2007 expires on 1/1/2019.:)

when I crashed in 1999 I had a simpson full face helmet on when my head hit the side post of my cage when the car flip up on two wheels then i hit the side window when the car hit a tree at 110 mph. I did not feel either hit and had no bump or burise on my head so when I got another helmet i got one I know will work if something ever happen agian I know simpson is not the cheapest helmet but after my crash i would not cut corners on something that is going to protect your head
