I'am putting in a mechanical gauge set up Water, oil, volt. in my 73 comet 302 factory air Where would be the best place to drill in the firewall for the copper oil tubing and the cap. tubing for water temp. There is a rubber cap plug just left of the heater core, Can I remove the plug and feed them through there. Any feedback would be great thanks.

U shud be able to remove the plug. I ran my lines thru the left side nr the brake cylinder, but I had to drill a hole. I think u have a better idea; I did'nt see the plug or I wud have used it if possible. Make sure u use some kind of grommet or something to keep the lines from rubbing against the edges where plug was removed. I have the same 73 Comet setup.
Someone else here will probably have some better ideas.

Look over the Green 73. I had them ran through the wall in a blue wire loom. Check it out. The gauges sat right him under the radio. Maybe that will help.

Hey Steve, I did not even think about looking at the green 73 just put it out back till it gets a bit warmer before I cut off the quaters, But thanks for the info. I did run the tubing through the grommet by the heater core just wanted to be sure before I cut out the center because it was hard as a rock. It is the perfect place to run the the tubing thanks Craig Selvey for your info.:tiphat:

If you look at the firewall insulation, it's held on by rubber plugs, just snip the end off one,(inside the engine compartment), then you can run the wire through it, and it's rubber, so it's a grommet.
