The darn thing wouldn't work! Spent all that time and sweat and no spark. Hooked old coil back up to make sure all my wire connections were good.....started right up. Figured what the hell, I'll take the screws out of the top and see if any thing is loose. As soon as I got the top off [with the coil attached] I saw it. Wire to [-] terminal was broke off! Don't know if it was just a bad solder joint or what. Sprayed it clean with electronics cleaner, and re soldered it together. Also re soldered another wire that was about to break. After about the third try, finally got it all back together. It only fits one way, and you have to be sure and not knock off the O ring or spill out the oil. Now, let's try this puppy again.....
hooked it up, hit the starter, varooom! Runs great! Should have a better spark than that 35 year old Ford unit I was running.(y)
So if you have an Accel Super coil, the square one with four bolts in the corners, that doesn't work, it may just be the same as mine, one of the wires broken off the stud. It's worth a look see if you want to save a buck or two....

Nice job..... Always makes you feel good when you figure something like that out even if it was aggrivating as hell while you were doing it..... :D

If you like the super coil, you should try the super super coil ($70 one)

Never tried that one. I always used the Super coil back years ago when I was helping build stuff for everybody else. They always worked good back then, so I went with what I knew. I only paid $10 for this one, supposedly new out of the box. I'm thinking it might have been dropped or something and returned because it looks brand new, no scratches or marks on it. There aren't any scratches around the terminals, so I don't think it was hooked up more than once.

They hold a huge amount of oil. The actual coil is no larger than a standard canister coil. I was surprised myself, I figured the coil would be much larger. I guess the extra oil is to keep the windings cooler.

I know if you shoot one of those with a 30.06 wires go flying everywhere!

I never have really liked those coils... they work but i hate the look of them.
