Ok first off...thanks to all who helped me out with this post.... Second, I finally got this bad boy to run!!! It was two things, first one, the timing was way too retarded, second, I had a huge vacuum leak under the car where the vacuum line connects to the tranny!... it just started to rain so I had to stop tinkering for now... but man does it sound really good and VERY responsive! Thanks again...I'll post some videos of it running so you guys can hear this 306 run!
Oh yeah! I learned alot about vacuum leaks, adjusting rockers, lifter preload, timing, etc... lol but in the end it was very rewarding to hear the engine come back to life after doing all of that work! Hope to get it back on the road by the weekend!
to add the 1/8 hole drilled in the 12 oclock position helps air bleed out. So its not trapped in the block until t-stat opens up. Another good trick is to jack the front end of the car up when filling radiator, start motor keep adding until t-stat opens or starts to overflow. This also helps keep air out of system by putting the fill point at the highest point. Glad to hear you got it running
