    anyone have any good and detailed pics of puting a 351w in a maverick? just picked one up today for free...:yahoo:

    What pics. Same as a 302, only a little wider. Different headers. Some people cut the shock towers for more room, :)

    The reason that the towers are shaved is to allow a bit more room to get at the plugs. It offers no extra room for the engine or headers.
    The swap to the 351W is as close to a "bolt in" as you can get when adding a larger engine in our cars but do not assume that 302 headers will fit with a 351W - they won't in most circumstances.

    i was mainly wanting pics of the shock towers after there cut.

    This was done back in the late 70's when the orgiinal builder cut the towers so he could put Boss 302 heads on the 302 block to run B/SM.
    If you want more pictures just let me know.

    I have a 351-W in my '72, and the shock toweres weren't cut. The plugs are somewhat difficult to change but actually not as bad as I thought it would be. The only thing is I do NOT have headers on mine, just manifolds.
