It is so hot outside, with humidity in the mid to high ninties, and the temperature in the low to mid ninties. It's aggravating because, it is so beautiful outside, but can't stand to be out there. Within 10 minutes my shirt, shorts, and underwear are wet with sweat. Sweat drips inside my sun glasses, which I've gotta wear. I recently bought a nice, solid one owner '73 two door with a/c for a daily driver, and I've got to replace the battery tray area and part of the lower passenger side apron where the car was in a small fender bender back in 2006. The battery was punctured, and you know the rest of the story. the guy gave me the parts necessary to fix the car with, and I have it partially done, but just can't stand to be out there. Anybody else have this problem, or do Ijust need to suck it up, and man up?

Fan,big beach umbrella! That's my savior. When it gets really bad,the water hose over me for a few minutes. That revives me almost instantly!:)

The heat index in July and August is always 105 to 110 down here, daily, even though the temp is only 91 or 92 tops.

Since I never have slept right, I get a ton of work done on the car from 5 AM to 7 AM, especially this time of year.

My garage has a ceiling fan and one on a stand that I can aim right at the car.

Worked outside the whole day today, mostly in shade, but, if you live down here, you get used to it. After being here a while, you really don't deal well with freezing winters, and I grew up in Chicago. You do physically change somehow living here a couple years.

The trees in NE Pennsylvania are turning fall colors due to the dry - hot conditions.

Earlier this week, I topped off my pool with an inch of water and shortly after that my kitchen tap water was a brownish color - which means my well is getting low and the pump is stirring up sediment from the bottom.

I heard a cold front was supposed to move through my area this weekend, but it was'nt today. When it comes, I'll be ready. It's 8:30, and I just came in from working on it for about 45 minutes, much cooler, but still very humid. Thanks guys for sharing in my pain.:tiphat:

The only good thing about a small work space -- 12X24 shed -- is I can dehumify and cool it a little with a 5000 BTU window AC. If the outdoor temp doesn't go too much above 90 degrees its tolerable.

Worst thing is there's not much room to put parts. I have them spread over af few different places and I spend a LOT of time looking for things. My bride wasn't pleased to find two fenders in my office one day.:(

Been that way here for the last three or four weeks. We finally got a break with some rain from that fizzled out tropical storm. Was still hot today, but not so hot that you feel stupid after a few minutes. Hoping it will cool down a few degrees next week, ready to repaint the car but don't want to do it in 100 degree weather. Paint would dry before it hit the car!

Yep its been brutally hot up here. In the 90's and full humidity since end of June. Our shop is really hot thanks to the nice shiny black asphalt all around us. The shop hovers in the mid 80's. Fixing cars flat rate in this heat SUCKS to say the least. These cars are damn hot under the hood now a days. Then we line up at the parts counter to hear the girl behind it complain cause shes too hot to work. Perhaps it has to do with the fact shes about 80 pounds overweight. Shes in AC sitting at a stool most of the day reading newspaper ads. She really gets us upset. Its a struggle some days and I'm tired of changing uniforms this Summer. I'm going through 3 shirts on the hot days. Still manage to get some wrenching done on the Mav though. I feel to guilty if I dont. I try to do the Mav at work though cause when I get home I'm pretty much fall in the pool and I'm done. You kind of get used to working in the heat when you have no choice. If the office staff or salesmen came out of the AC to work a day in the shop I'm sure they would have a bit more respect for us techs. (that is if they survived the day)

I do know what you mean though. Its tough to get motivated in this heat. Its not healthy to work in this heat unless your used to it and can handle it physically. I can be very dangerous for people with health conditions. Our front end man needs a puffer on good days. I come right out and tell him he should be off on sick leave for the Summer so he doesnt drop dead. He scares me. Lung issues, 50 years old and way overweight. I like him alot so I try to get my point across but he wont listen. Good thing we have that defribillator on hand. He helped train us on its use so I ride him pretty hard over that one.

well i'm glad i live in utah we don't have humidity like you guys have back east. if it hits 30 percent here thats high. in the early evening it cools off and you can work outside. but durring the middle of the day in the sun you don't want to be working on a car.

It's 105-115 on any given day where I work, and of course the humidity in Georgia is pretty bad through the summer. It's really bad when it clouds up and pours down rain for a half hour or so, and then the sun comes out. Just gets nasty hot and sticky.

I hear ya. Thats what happens at our place. We get those rain showers late in the afternoon and it makes it worse. Its nice to get home to the central air and cool off or should I say dry off.

Yesterday I worked on my Mav from 7:30 till around 5 and had to come in every so often and cool down. It was a nice 96 degree day with an index of 101. I was lying down infront of the car and sweat ran in my ear...LOL Now instead of swimmers ear I have sweaters ear. I wanted to get a few things done because we had a cruise in here in town. My Dad and Uncle came along with my wife, daughter and I. It was our first time and we had a blast.:bananaman
