Can someone please tell me if there is a difference in interior door panels/door handles from 72 to 73 (2 door) and if so what are they? Thanks for the help.

The blue ones are my 73 Grabber and the black ones are 72 Comet GT. Dont know if this will help you or not.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but sometime in 73 Mavericks went from the door handle being directly in front of the arm rest, like a 72 and earlier, to the really low door handle like the later models. Those 2 door handle locations make up the biggest difference in door panels.

A good possibility that you are correct about the door swap. I found a free set of 73 doors that I was going to swap into my 70 at one time. They will fit just fine. I still have them but I finally found a good set of early doors that I will use now instead. The 73 and later doors are much heavier due to the piece of guard rail material built into them. :)

Not to mention the large chisel, unidentified pushrod and assoroted other pieces of steel that were stowed in the passenger side door!

The later style, low mounted door handles first appeared in 72. I have seen them only in the LDOs.
