hey guys my name is devin. ive owned a few v8 vehicles in my life but this thing takes the cake... its super clean and on top of it have low miles and clean it has a mildly built windsor with a mildly built c5 trans.

i got the car through a trade. the guy i got it from swapped it from a 6cyl to the 351. the bellhousing was cracked when i got it so the past few days me and my freind have been hugging an benchpressing this trans and yesterday we finally got it in and i got to hear it for the first time and WOW.. this thing sounds mean. i drove in my drive way a little to check linkage and to see if it would even move because at this point i had relized the guy i got it from had no idea waht the hell he was talking about when he was telling about the car. after moving it around i noticed a tranny leak so i chased that down to the reverse servo. so me and my buddy dropped the crossmember enough so i could pull out the servo and change the gasket but in inspection of the servo it seemed that the plunger was cracked. so that is my problem i suspect. i have a ford racing billet one on the way. then it goes on the road :thumbs2:.

i will throw up some pictures soon. just thought i would say hi guys and relay my story. if anyone has any advice on putting that servo back in please chime in i dont want to break anything else. thanks guys

    Devin,

p.s. seems that the car may have some sort of an lsd in it. the guy told me as far as he know it is stock but the factory 6cyl had work done to it. he said it was stock open diff with 3.00 gears. anyway i can look it up or can anyone tell me what to look for besides pulling the front off the 8" and counting teeth?

Welcome to the board. If the 8" is stock they come with either a 2.79 or 3.00 rear gears. No 76 Comet came from the factory with a LSD so if it has one it is not stock.:Welcome:

    C5 trans?

Stock trans is a C4 and if you stuff a 351W in, you might at most run a C6...

Seems there might be something amiss if it's cracked. The adjustment may be too tight. Sounds like a PaulS question.

    It's a Comet so I like it. (y)
Looks like it still has the small radiator and might consider a bigger air filter :).
What's up with the selecta shifters? lol

the guy before me never took out the column shifter. the air breather i have no idea.. but i do plan on getting a bigger one. the radiator im not sure about. the car definatly has room for upgrades.

on another note i thought the thermostat was junk so i took it out and threw a new 180 degree thermo in it and still doesnt seem to be opening.. the water pump sounds and looks good so i have no idea... the one i took out i put it on my stove in some water and it opened so that one was good. can anyone point me in a direction to go from here.. .i was thinking maybe air in the system or heater hoses are clogged? im at a cross road. what do you guys think?

Did I miss that you were having cooling issues?
That radiator needs to go. I also see that there is no shroud. There is a guy who sells an aluminum radiator with a electric cooling fan. Up to you how you want or what you want but most will say to go aluminum. I'll look for a link..
