Ok, I'm looking for a good price to replace my 1974 250 Mavericks blown radiator. I found a few on ebay, etc but I don't quite get what I'm looking for. It's an auto transmission so it has those two cooler lines on the bottom. Are they for the transmission or the oil? Because some say they have "Auto Trans Cooling Lines" but not "Engine Oil" ones. Huh? Do I need lines for oil or trans fluid? Will either work as long as they cool something? I saw a picture of an aluminum one that looks like it has the openings for the lines in the right place and says it has Auto Trans cooling lines. Is this right? Help!!!

Those lines are Transmission cooler lines. If you have an automatic you really should have a cooler on there you can by-pass them but wouldn't recommend that.

Automatic transmissions are all hooked up to the radiator. Engine oil is not. Manual transmissions are not.

Radiator hose connections - Take a look at your old radiator and make sure you get one that has the inlet and outlet in the same place. They do vary amoung many Ford products.

Got it. Are there cars that run oil to it? Every radiator I looked at had a designation to indicate if it had that or not.

No cars that I know of have oil lines to the radiator, only automatic transmissions. Make sure you get a radiator compatable with a 250. The 200 radiator is a smaller one.. I believe the 250 and 302 are the same radiator size.:)

Also if you buy one of the aftermarket 3 core aluminum radiators be advised its a very tight fit. If you want to use the drain you'll have to notch the crossmember in your car. Other than that they're great. I've got one for my 302 and in 105* ambient air temps it still stays below 200* even sitting in traffic.

Thanks Guys! It'd be good if the 302 radiator is basically the same. The best candidate I had had incorrect in and outlets... More searching I guess.

It would be nice to use this as an excuse to get an Aluminum radiator like I want.....
