Just wondering what some of you are using for a modern radio. My 72 Comets a/m has got to go! I realize places like custom autosound make models that require no dash trimming but like many people, I am on a budget. One thats even tighter with two projects now(turbo 2.3 pinto wagon also). I don't really care if it is cassette or CD capable. I know about the old f/m converters but would rather upgrade to a modern higher powered system. Peyton in Ohio

Your 72 Comet should have a removable bezel. You can cut the center out of the bezel to accept a modern DIN type stereo. On my Maverick it worked out that the finished DIN opening was just inside the raised Chrome stripe.

I installed mine myself. It's a JVC indash AM/FM/Cass with a 12 disc CD changer in the trunk. Two 6x9 speakers in the rear window & two 6" speakers in the kickpanels. Plus two amps, one under each front seat (1 powers the subwoofer in trunk). The othe powers the rest of the system. I had to cut the bezel to accept the new radio, but looks awesome with the faceplate that came with the system. It has a detachable face also. Been in the car for 3 years now, no problems. Car is in a carport, not a garage.

Forget that, install an entire carpuder in there with a touch LCD screen covering the old AM radio slot.

Where in a maverick could you mount a small computer anyways? I mean, it would be only a few inches high and maybe 12" wide/long.
