Hello All! I am a complete novice when it comes to cars. I have changed the oil and changed a tire before (on more modern cars), but that is about it. I love cars though and am looking to learn and expand my knowledge on them. So I went ahead and bought myself a project car.... a 1973 Ford Maverick. (It's the 2 door luxury model with reclining seats.) This will be a slow moving and major project as the car currently does not have an engine or transmission. I have decided to stay with the 302, but go for fuel injected versus carbureted. I have also decided to stick with an Automatic transmission just because that is what I am comfortable with. (Though I would like to remove the shifter from the steering column and put it on the floor.) The first thing that I will be working on is getting the bodywork straight. There are a few minor dents and some light rust, except the trunk is rusted out. But my brother inspected the car prior to me buying it and said the frame looks good. Doing a little research, it sounds like this is a common issue too. I will have help through my family, so I won't be completely alone in this. My Dad has a 1970 Mercury Cougar that has been his project car. My brother has a 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback and a 1975 Mustang II for project cars. My husband has a project car of his own as well, though a little newer... a 1989 Ford Mustang. Anyway... I look forward to this adventure and am glad to have found this resource of valuable information. Feel free to share any info you would like! -Jessica
Welcome from Raleigh. Great project car. Sounds like you have what you need between your LDO, your Ford family and mmb.maverick.to. This is a great place for hard to find parts as well as info and advice. Looking forward to some pictures.
