Randy, I have a couple of questions....were the springs a direct replacement.....no problems with fit. ? Did they change the heighth of the back of the car? I looked at the springs at general spring, they had more leafs than my 74 two door. Thanks......Dale
The springs were a direct replacement with no problems whatsoever. Buy some new eyelet bushings too, they aren't expensive. I was replacing old, worn out 3 leafs. They raised the Grabber to what I expect stock would be, which I was happy with. My 73 is lowered and the rear would bottom out. They made a HUGE difference in the ride. After the new springs, no more of that! I talked to a spring shop in Tulsa before ordering the springs. It was much cheaper for me to buy the new springs than have mine re-arched.
Thanks Randy, just looking for a good supplier. I have heard or read of a few folks that were not happy with springs from JC Whitney, thanks for the information on this place.........Dale
I should have clarified, I have both. My first set is from JCW. I like them fine, it just took too long to get them (they were backordered). The second set I ordered was with General Spring in KC. I think they are a better spring for the price. The JCW spring is fine, but for about the same price, General Spring sells a shot peened spring - it looks pretty and it's local! JCW springs are sourced from John R Spring, who imports them. Also, both sets I bought are 4 leaf.
I have the General springs on my Comet. For me, they were vry stiff ride. After, abt 2 yrs of tolerating "what I consider" a bone jarring ride; I finally removed the bottom leaf. I wish I had know B4 I installed them on the car -- I wud have removed the leaf. The car is much more pleasurable to drive and only lowered the rear abt 3/4in. After getting some info frm "71Gold" who had the same issue - I removed the leaf - One of the best mod's I've made to the suspension - If not the entre car.
Interesting that we had such different experiences with them. Maybe they will make a 3 leaf set if asked?
