I am looking to replace the bias ply tires that came with my 70 mav. The current tires are 185/75/14. They are small. the wheels are the smaller 4 lug steelies. Wondering what the maximum size tire I can put on these small wheels. I was thinking 205/70/14 or 195/75/14, anyone have any suggestions? Also, if i wanted to go with a different rim, are there any good aftermarket wheels being made with this pattern?

that is what i am asking, the rim looks like it is only about 5 inches wide, will a 205/70 fit on it?

I've had good luck through tire rack, probably have ordered three/four sets. The UPS guy always says he knows it me when tires are put on his truck!

i dont think tire rack has an option to input a width of rim... Also, they dont list 4 lug maverick as a vehicle. I was just looking to see if anyone had actually mounted tires on a 70 mav stock steelie.

205 is too wide for a 4.5" wheel.

All tire charts, list the recommended rim width, and it can very from tire brands.

No, really it doesn't. I had some 195/70s on a 4.5" wheel and the sidewalls were majorly sucked in. A 225 would just be outrageous, and the recommended rim width is 6" to 7.5".

Don't be telling people that a 225 "fits great" on a 4.5" rim, because that's just inaccurate information and it's not helping anyone.

Now.....there is the rare occassion a Maverick (I have seen two) has the 4-lug factory steel wheel that can be 6" wide.
