I've looked and looked but can't find anything on putting in a 300CI. Anybody put one in and how extensive were the mods to make it fit?
Here is an article on putting one in a Maverick. It is a lot less work than trying to put a 351w in the car. I tried to buy a 300ci 6cyld drag motor sometime ago and other than change the trans mount, build some motor mounts and relocate the radiator it would fit without any other alterations in my Maverick......but my Maverick has had the towers shaved. http://www.carcraft.com/featuredvehicles/ccrp_1108_1971_ford_maverick/
Thanks, I think I'll stick to the 250 I picked up the other day. Now I just have to decide what trans to stick to the back of it. Really want an overdrive for longer legs on the highway.
okay so im debating lately weather or not to put a v8 in my car or build the I6. I most likely will do the v8...once I find one. however, im curious if a I6 300 head will fit on a I6 250?? the only reason I ask is because the head and intake are forged as one piece on the 200/250, which we all know sucks if you want to put an offhenhauser with 2/4 barrel. any help guys?
The 300ci is a completely different head/engine family. Some components of the 240ci and 300ci are interchangeable, but not with the 170/200/250ci engines
Heads will not interchange, but you can do a lot with the 250. Three keys to making performance with the six, cam, pistons, head work with a little bigger valves and ports.................of course that leads to headers, and intake carb's.................or maybe a supercharger......just depends on how much performance you want and how deep your pockets are. http://www.mustangandfords.com/techarticles/engine/5283_building_six_cylinder_engine/
I am trying to put a 300 inline 6 in my 1970 maverick. I am new to this site, so give me all the info you guys can. Is it possible that this can happen, or is the motor to long? thanks guys
You can do all this to a 6 cyl, and if you are doing it to be different for the sake of being different that's cool but for less money you'll have more power from a small block V-8.
Looking at the pictures in the Car Craft article I don't see where he had to do a bunch of cutting. I'm getting real close to killing my dad's truck with a 300 six. I might just have to slip it into the car, take pictures and measurements and post the results so we can put this question to bed once and for all.
