Water pump is leaking. May as well use this opportunity to buy a new high volume pump. Just need to know what direction is spins so I know which one to buy.
If your current water pump pulley is smooth, its a reverse rotation. If its ribbed, its a standard rotation.
Back when I worked at Pep Boys I would match the blades to make sure when there were doubts or questions. Usually a couple or 4 bolts to remove the back plate. Then I could apply some tack sealer..
I know some parts places list the pumps as clockwise or counter-clockwise. I was never sure if that meant the rotation when facing the back of the car or the front.
Correct. But when someone has changed their pulleys and stuff they could have changed something to create a reverse flow especially when dealing with a serpentine style.
OK, so when the one I have in the cart says Counterclockwise, it should be the one I need. Thanks a bunch!
when I changed mine over to the serpentine system, I routed the belt to turn the water pump the same way the v-belt turned it...
And what did that do for your cooling system? I assume that was for the chevy engine, and it needed to spin that way anyway?
