so i had the complete exhaust out of my wrecked 77 4 door sitting on the side of my house up until yesterday. while i was at work someone walked of with it. i'm pretty sure it was a scrapper because it still had the cat attached to it. i am just needing somewhere to rant because it really pissed me off. i already filed a police report so they know someone is stealing metal around the neighborhood. i needed a part of the pipe to put on my falcon (the drive train from my former daily is going in my falcon). now i have to find another 250 at the junk yard and remove the first part of the exhaust pipe that is connected to the manifold. but i did find out from the police officer that driving around neighborhoods looking for scrap is against the law where i live and i will be call the police when ever i see them driving past my house from now on. i'm just glad my comet is in the garage and not accesible without breaking in.
have you checked out this guy he looks pretty shady!!!! just kidding. that really sucks! their some people in this world who need to go away.
Yeah that's an old picture I think I was 20-21 when I took it but its been up here for such a long time I don't want to take it off.
guys like that make people like me who haul scrap metal for a living look bad. most scrappers are just guys trying to make a buck. but theres tweeks out there who give us a bad name by stealing anything metal thats not bolted down or just plain too obvious to get away with. its partially other peoples fault in your area because alot of people throw stuff made out of metal out on the curb knowing that scrappers will pick it up and they wont have to haul it to the dump or pay someone to haul it off. but alot of guys have gone too far and have been going on peoples yards and taking stuff good luck finding what you need
Don't have that problem around here. It rusts away before someone steals it! Seriously, though there have been metal thefts around here, but it was copper pipe and the low lifes got caught and put away!
I have these two wrought iron plant stands on my porch. One day when I was painting the house a couple pulls up curbside and asks if I am throwing them away.. :16suspect.. I had them standing by the columns away from the wall so I could paint behind them. They are now bolted down and screwed to the wall.
I worked at a yard for about 2 years. the amount of stuff that was stolen is hard to believe. the thing that got me was when the thief was caught half the time he wasn't even arrested. It amazed me at the people that would sell a load that was worth less than $5. honestly if the thieves got a job at mcdonalds they would make more money
i think i still have the vest in the back of the comet i should go out in the garage and take a look. i haven't seen it in years.
I'm in northeast PA and metal theft is an ongoing problem around here. The biggest prize is copper. Thieves will swipe the copper right out of your house if they think nobody lives there or even if you are away on vacation. In almost every case when the thieves do get caught they turn out to be drug addicts doing the thefts so they can get money for their next fix. They even stoop so low as to steal the bronze markers off of veterans gravesites. I have absolutely zero tolerance for those kind of people. If they have to resort to stealing the pipes out of your house or stealing from a veteran's grave just so they can shoot up, then I've got a .38 that will shoot something in them that will cure them real quick. Sorry for the rant, but this is a sore topic for me. It's something we hear about on the news almost every week. It's just a sad state of affairs when you all but have to bolt everything down so stuff doesn't walk away overnight. Oh wait. The lowlifes would probably steal the bolts too.
To add to the rant, around here the big thing is the gold buying places.. I know someone that was in that type of business, almost all of the gold was stolen and and sold to these places.. they only have to hold it for 15 days then its off to get melted down... Doesn't give people enough time to find there stuff... Also there was a big furniture store here in town that came in one morning to big holes in there roof, someone stole there a/c units right off the building for there cooper..
My aunt had a 71 Torino XL 2dr she got from her deceased mother in law. It was a nice low miles V8 car with 30K miles. I was trying to buy it and in the process of her giving me a price, the car was stolen. The brakes were locked up and whoever stole it dragged it. They followed the tire marks to a salvage yard and even found a tire off of it that had run off the rim. Nobody would do anything. The cops didn't care. The car was not found. Damn shame.
Yeah they stole pieces of my steel arch building when it was on the pallet out front, cost me hundreds to replace those.
