It is always interesting to see what "other" cars are bringing on ebay. Here is a 1978 Ford LTD wagon. Stunning car in my opinion. Lots of high quality pictures. Just look at the quality of the chrome. I also feel that this car sold WAAAAY to cheap at $4005. http://www.ebay.com/itm/161165084222?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Now check out this 1971 Country Squire. Again.....lots of pictures. California Car, and a stunning example of this breed of car. And a stunning price for a 1971 station wagon: $11,500 http://www.ebay.com/itm/190990732428?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Both of these cars interested me because I have owned a 1976 Ford LTD wagon and a 1972 Ford Country Squire.
I think they are under appreciated cars, I have many fond memories of family vacations in a 72 Country Squire. You just don't see them around our area any more.
I see more and more station wagons at car shows these days - I like the rear cargo seats in the second auction that face each other - don't recall ever seeing that configuration before
I love wagons and those are both damned nice cars! My 1970 Fairlane 500 station wagon kicked many 2 door cars asses all over town. Stocker Mustangs and Camaro's hated me. lol Lowered down with GT hood scoop, chin spoiler, and painted stripes drew them in.. and the polished and detailed engine kept them staring till the questions started. Many thumbs up while driving around too.
Very Nice Craig. It is cool to check out some of the other Fords on Ebay...and it's even better with great pics like these. Luv the whitewall tires and wheels on the first one. It was pretty neat getting to see your wicked cool Station Wagon, when my son and I visited you awhile back....I see it's still written under your Avatar...do you still have it?
No....I sold it. I had to give it away (price wise). I tried and tried to sell it for 6 months, then just finally took whatever the next person offered me. When I said "best offer"....I meant it!!
I have always believed that the old station wagons from the 1950's through the 1970's will be the next big thing among car collectors. When you think about it the wagons were in a way the first SUV's. Other than the AMC Eagle, they may not have been built with 4 wheel drive, but they could haul a ton of cargo and look good doing it. My Grandparents had a 1956 Dodge wagon and that thing was like a house boat with tires. It could haul 4 adults and one kid ( me ) and still have room for whatever stuff they brought with them from their city home to their country bungalow. Even though it's not a Ford, the Olds Vista Cruiser is an awesome looking car.
And how many custom vans built back in the 70's & 80's got that Olds Vista Cruiser window roof grafted onto them
These auctions are just an example of how to put up an auction. THIS is the way to auction a car. I don't think one can ask a starting bid for a Maverick at $15,000 and only have 7 or 8 pictures.
I love wagons......I also love muscle cars I got the best of both worlds.... and this is my son's Malibu project....
