Yeah, what ever you think it will cost, tripple that. Same for the time it takes to do it. Decide right from the start how well you want it restored and how much of that you can do yourself. Have a plan. Dont rip it apart unless you have the time and money to put it back together. Do it right the first time. Micah
Put front disc brakes on it, and lower the front by at least an inch. Put a 4-barrel carb and dual exhausts on it as well.
first thing pour water down the cowl if your floor gets wet inside you have a major rust repair job on your hands. if it stays dry inside check the rest of the car for rust if little to no rust build on like others have said already have an idea of how you want the car to be when its done. theres tons of cars that are very nice drivers that dont have to be million dollar investments. speaking of investments these cars are NOT a good investment for monetary gain. however theyre great for cool and not some mainstream mustang or camaro you can do most of the work yourself since these cars are fairly simple and parts arent not terribly expensive atleast not until you get into carbon fiber or grabber hoods then the $$ signs start creeping up on you myself I like hotrods and classics that can be driven anywhere strictly race or show cars arent for me I want to get in and go and have some get up and go at the same time welcome and good luck with your car however YOU decide to build it
I'm doing the same thing. Just take your time and do a little at a time so that it doesn't get too overwhelming, especially from a money standpoint. Lots of good information on this site!!
I too want to know your definition of restore. If it is a true restoration there are guys on here that you will need all their knowledge to get it right. Very few people do a true restoration in my opinion. I think the word is used very loosely. Good luck on the build and keep us posted
Hey guys I'm new here, and I know it doesn't pertain to this post, but I'm trying to put a 9inch rear in my 69 1/2 maverick and I can't find anywhere what the wheel to wheel mount is. Does anybody have any answers? thank you And good luck on restoring your Mav
Not many will see what you just posted since it is attached to a different thread already in progress - I would delete this and start a fresh one and you will get much better responses
First thing you do is sell it and buy a comet. Preferably a GT, then continue with the restoration. Good luck. Start a new thread in the projects section and take lots of pics so we can follow your progress.
