found one locally that is supposidely in good shape. Looks good from the pics. Comes with pressure plate, clutch, bellhousing, and hurst shifter for 400 cash today. Good deal?
He kept asking me about my flywheel size. I told him I have a 50oz 164 tooth flywheel andbge seems to think thetrans clutch and pressure plate won't work with my flywheel. Is the t10 a truck trans?
T10's are car transmissions and like the Muncie there are different levels. T10 is a great transmission and the Super T10 is just that much better!
super t-10 is a great tranny you can bang gears all day and never break them had one in my Buick skylark my gto never had a problem with them at all saw them going for 800 to a thousand at Turkey run this year so 400 is a good deal
Am I correct in thinking that the T10 had a cast steel case and the Super T10 was aluminum? If so any other differences?
The 1957-1965 models use a Thrust Bearing between 2nd and 3rd gears, the '66-'69 don't use a Thrust Bearing.
I had a T-10 in a 65 stang as a 18 yr old kid w/ a stout 302,4.56 gears,punished the crap out of it.Never broke,held up really well at over 7000rpm regularly.
Does the T10 have the 6 bolt bellhousing butterfly bolt pattern? If it has the earlier 5 bolt square pattern, make sure your bellhousing has the correct bolt pattern. Some bellhousings have both drilled, some don't. I also thought 5 bolt bellhousing T10's (as well as the earlier Ford tranny's) have a different length input shaft. Check it all out.
Good info... I'm 99% the later T-10 had both patterns but don't believe input depth is a problem unless maybe is a big block version... While they hold up OK behind a small block, was fairly easy to rip 2nd and cluster out when power shifting a healthy big block...
I'm thinking the T10's input retainer has a different OD than the Toploader's too, might want to measure the hole in the bell and the T10's retainer before bolting it all up and driving it.
