Quick little video I did up on it for my main YouTube channel, since it's been lacking lately.

well my weekend didn't go as planned, but I did get enough free time to sand down the hood, and repaint it.

    few pics of that process.

Sanded down (with a face on the windshield lol)

Hood off the car and into the currently empty shed

First coat of paint laid down. Little streaky, the spray tip wasn't cleaned properly.

after 4 coats. last 2 decently heavy.

Going to give it till next weekend to cure, then wet sand it down with 800, then 1500. Should look half decent and it will be a one panel at a time paint job, as weekends are really my only time to wok on this thing.
Keep in mind this is a cheap single stage oil based paint job. I'm not spending a ton of money on this thing. just getting it somewhat presentable. Maybe further down the road I will spend some money and get a professional job done but for now, this is 100% better than what was on it.

Fun fact, I actually thought about just clear coating the sanded down good. I think the whole car sanded down and cleared would look hilariously awesome.

Small update, Got my Pertronix electronic ignition in the mail finally, and I installed that after I got home from work last night, install was super quick and easy, took about 20 minutes. Did a short video on the process of that since im going to be documenting most of the things I do on this car. Didn't fire it up to make sure I did it right as it was about 1:30 AM when I finished (I work till 11 PM, and get home around 12:30 AM) however I went out this morning before work and she fired up better than ever, and runs a bit better as well. Pretty happy!

Well I got the hood wet sanded, polished, and waxed. Half decently happy with the end results. It's by no means perfect, or as good as I could have gotten it. But now I know for the rest of the car what I need to do differently. AKA More coats! Couldnt sand it down enough to get it glass smooth as the layers were getting pretty thin. so I'll lay more coats for the rest of the car and I should be good to go.

I also blacked out the chrome trim on the hood, the headlight surrounds, and the grille! this will be the look I got for. white with black trim. Kind of a cool look in my eyes.

few pics just because I went cruising around and took some.

    some closer-ups of the hood.

Found some of the parts needed for the small bumper conversion. ordered em up and they are on the way to the border. Mint condition. No dents, straight as an arrow, and no rust at all!

Well, things have basically come to a stand still for now. While modifying the front fenders for the small bumper conversion, I came across a mess of rust one of the previous owners tried hiding by simply putting new metal over top. instead of cutting out and replacing. so, I have to get that taken care of before the small bumper goes on up front. Will likely just end up getting new fenders from ebay. Going to need some overtime for that.

Car is currently on storage insurance and sitting in my backyard for the winter. I ordered a few parts for it that arrived today. I got a new starter solenoid along with some general maintennance items I want to replace. Im hoping the solenoid is what has been giving me issues. Cheap to replace so I figured it was worth doing anyways.

so I got the car running great. Tossed in a new starter, old one wasnt working anymore. New battery, new starter solenoid, new battery cables as the old ones were corroded. had an issue with cold starting in this colder winter/spring days so I got some good info here and on youtube and took a shot at my first time playing around with a carb. got the car running. main issue was the choke. but i had to adjust basically all the screws.

just picked up a cheap tach today so I can dial in the idle screws perfectly to where I want them.

So what does everyone recommend for an idle speed once the car is warmed up? Fast idle I've got around 1200 RPM.

curb idle though where should that be? around 800 RPM?

right now it's around 900-1000 RPM. when I drop it into gear (auto trans) it drops to about 500 RPM and kind of clunks in because of the RPM difference. I kind of want to get rid of that banging into gear thing as I'm sure it's not great for the transmission. Is my idle speed in park too high?
