I have a 1976 Maverick, and I recently purchased a 1970 Maverick grill. I want to swap my grill, but I don't know how to remove my original grill. I want to be as gentle as possible and keep from damaging my original grill. Big thanks to those who can help! Sincerely, Taylor Wensley
Eventually when I get everything for the bumpers, yes I'll be doing the small bumper conversion. I just wanted some know how before hand and something I can reference to when it's time to swap.
Disconnect the turn signals and ground wires & remove all the screws and the grill will come right out.
There are 5 attaching points on a Maverick grille. Two screws on top at the hood latch support, one screw behind the grille at the latch support and two plastic clips at each end of the grille top. Push the center pin out of the plastic clips and squeeze the bottom tabs to remove the clip. The plastic tends to be brittle so be careful not to break the clip, if they're not broken already.
Thank you. That's the instructions I was looming for. I grabbed a mirror to see under the black clips. So I push the center of it up? While pinching the piece around it?
