The bellhousing is for just that. The bellhousing p/n is LAK-15201. I don't know about any interference's yet, I haven't tried the swap. Thanks, Ken
Can I horn in here and ask a question of the more knowledgeable guys? A 72 with 302... Did it come with a 10" or 10.5" clutch? Are the two sizes interchangeable on a stock flywheel? I ask because when I go to different parts sites, Summit for example, they bring up both 10 and 10.5 clutch packages when I do a search by model. Some sites even bring up 11" assemblies, but I know that isn't right. On the toploader with Lakewood housing: The small flywheel works best, but it can hold a 164 tooth with 11" clutch for more holding power. I did it on mine. Lakewood recommends using a dial indicator and cammed bushings for possible clearance problems, but I didn't need to on mine. Thanks! Dave
Ratio411, I cant help you with your flywheel question, sorry. But, you said you used a Lakewood bellhousing and Toploader trans. Did you use a cable setup out of a 5.0 mustang of the stock mechanical linkage? Thanks, Ken
Billet Steel ... RAM brand ... paid $260 for it ... will sell for half that ... has about 400 miles on it ...
I need to get a few more things for my Maverick, such as mirrrors, windshield replaced and seats. Then I'll see if you still have that flywheel. Thanks, Ken
About the 4 speed conversion. I found where it says that 1300 or so 1970 mavericks had 4 speeds from the factory.
Its a lie. The only place that 4 speeds came from the factory is Mexico. No US or Canadian Maverick or Comet did. Where did you read this?
I see .... it is wrong however ... Not only did Ford not offer 4-speed Mavericks in 1970 (or ever) ... but they didn't offer manual floor shifters either in 1970 Mavericks ... so it would have had to been a 4-on-the-tree!
Are you sure that Ford couldnt have made only 1300 cars this way that no one remembers or knows about? Or maybe it was the mexican ones as someone suggests. How sure are you guys they didnt make one?
It was Brazil that had 4-speeds ... Not Mexico .... and they did not make Mavericks in Brazil in 1970. Feel free to continue your wild goose chase if choose too ... I suggest you contact the owner of that website and see where he got his info ... I have a feeling if you point that out to him he will promptly remove it ...
