Hello everyone , not sure where to post this, I have a 70 maverick project and a 460 in a 88 mustang that I would like to place in ten maverick , my questions are a, anyone on here do this ?? Car would never be raced , pure street beast ! But it must fit under the stock hood , I know the 460 is a tall motor , and I would have to strut tower delete with mustang 2 front clip , and am
    Thinking the c6 won't fit the trans tunnel , but I could mate a c4 to the 460 , any thoughts ??

The 1970 tunnel is the smallest tunnel of the Maverick years - I replaced mine with a tunnel out of a 72

I do have a few parts cars which should have bigger tunnels , will a c6 fit in one of these tunnels ? I did have to adjust the fox body tunnel to fit the c6

Well, Nicholson and G&R stuffed SOHC 427 and Boss 429 engines into them in the early 70's, so it can be done. I would turn the car over to a fab shop for such a project, but that just reflects my age and my adverse reaction to lying under a car with tools these days.

    Can you say, "nose heavy"?

Why go to all the trouble if you're not going to race it just stick with the 302, much cheaper.

Yeah,a nice little 331 or 347 can really make these small cars scoot on the street, more than enough zip.

I've read where a C6 is even tight in a larger Maverick tunnel

    ,

I have the 460 setup that I have in a fox body now , gonna sell the mustang and can't get any reasonable dollars for it , guessing most people don't want a 460 in an 88 mustang , really I built the car around the powertrain and was thinking I could swap the 302 back into the mustang and sell it substantially cheaper . And maybe squeeze the 460 in the Maverick , but if the car has to be butchered to do it I will stick with a smallblock

But where's the fun in that! Plus.. 385 series stroker motors are cheaper than ever to build these days. And big power at low rpm means potentially longer lifespans too. Well.. maybe not for the tires.

So what if we blow by you through the corners.. you'll still be passing us back up again on the straightaways. Good luck hooking it off the line though. :bouncy:

If you have the ability, then go for it! Why be like everyone else with a 302?

I'm fairly sure the 460 won't begin fit in a stock engine bay Mav even without exhaust manifolds/headers... The 351W/C just barely fit...
