I was looking for a 71 body . Someone offered me a 69.5 stripped maverick body . I am told there is a difference but don't know what that is ? I have a 71 that is full of rust and want to make a 71 out of the 69.5 and be exact ? will that happen ? What are the differences ?

69.5's have smaller side marker light cutouts. Also the ignition lock cylinder is on the dash, not the steering column.

Off the top of my head, the gas tank would be the biggest difference. Also, not sure if the frame had the V8 crossmember bolt locations in them yet. Later in the 70 models had them, but not sure on the early cars. Doors in the early cars didn't have the side impact bars but they will all swap around.

Supposedly the transmission tunnel is smaller.

I'll guess that's at firewall to accommodate 302 bell housing, body of C4 are all same.

I forgot about that one - it is the whole length of the driveshaft tunnel. You really notice it when putting new carpeting in as the carpet is formed for the wider tunnel.

I know that the AOD/T-5 crossmembers I sell are narrower on the 69.5.
they bolt into the same holes as the stock crossmembers.

Not sure where you heard that. They are exactly the same.

Seems like I have seen one with the 1969 Mustang style chrome side marker bezels. I know that I have a metal door tag from a 1969-1/2 Maverick.
