Someone was nice enough to rear end the Comet this weekend. Are the 71-72 quarter extensions the same for the Comets and non Grabber Mavericks? Also, are the extensions the same for 2 door and 4 door of those same years? Finally, was the chrome quarter extension - trunk molding specific to Comets?

    Thanks guys.

2-door is not the same as 4-door on the quarter extensions or the chrome.

    1970-1973 is different from 1974-1977.

Mavericks and Comets are the same for the quarter extensions and the chrome trim.

If you need a quarter extension, I have some. Email me (see below) if I can help.

Ouch!!! I hope no one got hurt, and I hope the car isnt too crunched. After all the attention these cars get to look nice, getting crunched is more than disappointing.

It was about 1am and parked when someone hit it, so no one was in the Comet. Thankfully we found the person responsible. I just hope their insurance does not try to say it is totaled. We just put a new 5.0 roller in it with less than 500 miles.

    Ouch.

Look for the frame to be bent right above the rear axle. Pretty common with a hit like that. The car can be put on a frame rack and pulled out.

Yep....going to need a quarter panel as well.

I feel the pain. How does it normally work in Texas regarding the other guys insurance if he hits a collector car? Seems unfair to value the car as a 40 year old junker.

Ouch, I can see a battle coming from the insurance company unless you have some kind of proof of the cars value

Looks like I am about to find out. i do know that insurance handles the claim differently. I suspect there is more research involved in trying to attach a value to the vehicle.
