I'd have to be on a autobong to drive that fast...

the car handles incredibly well. if you read back a few pages, you can see all the issues i had. but now? front end is totally solid and feels planted.
all in all, i didn't do that much to the suspension. mainly improved (roller) stock parts. but the vibration issues are completely gone and i'm pretty confident about the steering. still have a little whining noise, i guess it's the differential.

i drove on a pretty flat and straight stretch tonight which was recently rebuilt - if western PA roads are anything like the eastern roads where i drove from philly to harrisburg and to mountain top to visit bob, i wouldn't have driven that fast there, either ;)

The roads are about the same here as at Bobs. Maybe a little worst. A lot of dips, patched potholes, hills and curves. PA has some of the worst roads I have ever seen. The auto bond would be a dream road. Even the interstates here are bad.

I grew up in North Carolina were there were nice interstates and back roads that you could do runs like that late at night when mist people were home and asleep.

Roads aside that is still a very impressive speed to squeeze our of these cars. You have done a great job with your car.

picked up a set of modified lower control arms. had the opentracker sleeves and bearings welded in.
i'll try to put them in this weekend and have the front end aligned (once again).

need to get your alignment tools. could have paid for them by now!
i know changing out the stock control arms made a huge difference in the feel of the car.

lower arms are finally in. what a difference they make! up and down movement of the front end is much easier.
car is in need of an alignment, so i don't know what to make of the handling yet.

ordered a t5 crossmember from frank, acquired a wc t5 transmission for the mustang, the t5z ford racing transmission from the stang will go in the comet.
don't know whether the 2.75 gears will suit it, so i will have something new to tinker with ;)

the 2.75 gears will put a work out on the clutch to get the car moving. i would definitely recommend a ratio change. i dont have a specific suggestion sense you deal with the autobahn and much higher speeds.

    well, the toploader has gear ratios of 2.78, 1.93, 1.36 and 1.00, whereas the t5z has 1st 2.95; 2nd 1.94; 3rd 1.34.
so i was thinking just a slight change, as i have an unused set of 3.00 gears on my shelf.
might be better of with something in the 3.20 area, but we'll see...

I have 3.50 now which is nice for red light to red light and mountain driving but for the highway I miss my 3.00's. I use a 94 Cobra T5 with a short input shaft which is about the same as the T5Z

ah, i thought you had a standard t5 not a top loader. the t5z will be a little better on the clutch than the top loader. 3.0s or 3.25s should be good for the higher speeds you get to do.

got the crossmember from 71gold, and the adapter plate for the bellhousing. Still waiting for the transmission to arrive, so nothing to do right now. Will set up the diff with the new ring and pinion when i swap the transmission.

signed up for drag race, a just for fun event taking place in two weeks:
