Hi everyone! Recently I was out driving around in my 1972 Ford Maverick and someone hit me, damaging my fender pretty badly. I was out looking for parts to replace the current damaged ones and wanted to know if a Fender for a late model Maverick would work on mine. I know it's a little taller in the front because of a removable metal piece, but is that all? I was also wondering if there was a name for the little metal piece that goes in front of the grill but behind the chrome bumper, and how difficult that part was to source. Thanks guys!
My guess is the little piece that goes behind the bumper is the stone guard which can be purchased new. Here are instructions on how to notch fender http://1bad6t.com/Maverick/maverick_38.html
Sorry for being so vague, this is the piece I'm talking about. I went down to look at my current fender and it doesn't look like this piece is attached to them, and is instead a part of the cowl, where the license plate attaches. I asked my dad about it and he says that this fender here has this piece because it's a later model fender. I'm just wondering if it's easy to remove this piece, and if other than this once piece, if the fenders are identical.
Yes it is easy to remove that piece but the fenders are not identical as 71gold and I have noted you will have to notch the fender for stone guard. Look at the fender that is on your car and notice the front bottom corner in front of marker light and you will see the differences
New reproduction fenders are available from Dynacorn. They can be bought from Melvin's Classic Ford Parts and Autokrafters.
Wow, thanks guys!! I had no idea that you could buy these fenders new!! I might pick up some extra's while I'm shopping for them anyways! Thanks again!
