I know most of this has been covered many times. However, I am new to the Maverick scene and still looking for some more info. I have a 1970 Mav with the 6 banger and 3 on the tree. It is 4 lug and has no fuel tank. So here's where I am with questions: 1. Is it possible to have the stock rear axles/drums drilled to 5-lug? 2. Is this a pretty decent 4 to 5-lug swap: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-1971-...ISC-BRAKE-CONVERSION-/181951874311?nav=SEARCH 3. What is the widest tire/wheel combo with the stock rear end and keeping things inside the fender? 4. Is a fuel cell from Summit the easiest fuel tank swap? 5. Is there a good floor shifter to replace the column shifter? Thanks everyone for the help.
1. Easier and probably cheaper to just put an 8" 5-lug rear in it. 2. Don't know, I just put '76 Maverick discs on mine. That kit looks interesting. 3. I have 15X8 wheels with 255/60/15's. Some have managed to put taller, wider tires on. 4. You can buy a stock replacement tank . Took some work but I put a 22 gallon '70 Mustang tank in mine. 5. A stock floor shifter or a Hurst or something similar. You'll have to change the trans tail shaft housing to accommodate the new shifter.
