We just moved somewhere much higher in elevation and my boyfriend doesn't know how to adjust the timing since the air is thinner here. Can anyone help us out? He has a 1970 Maverick with and inline 6. I'm not sure what other information you'll need, just let me know and I'll get it for you.

Its probably not the timing, you need to adjust or re-jet the carb. Oh and install a pertronix module in place of the points for a better spark...

He's adjusted the carb a few times and it helps, but he said he found what he has to do. I forget what exactly it was.
