after reading the boards about road racing mavericks and then playing GranTurismo, I was imagining how awesome it would be to drive a maverick around Germany's Nurburgring. Then I wondered...:hmmm: maybe I should ask if anyone has put up a time for a Mav allready. does anyone know if its been done?

We have a board member "gunslinger" Who I believe road races a mav...Road racing mavs was popular in brazil... Its a good platform for it...You just have to set it up properly...

Well, back in 1972, my father raced his Maverick from Berlin to Brindisi, Italy in less than a day to pick my mother and me up. Does that count? :drive:

the nuerburgring is not far from where i live... but i think i wouldn't dare to put my newly built comet on the track ;)
a friend of mine builds race cars for historic race events, but they mainly go to spa and le mans. i found some nice footage on youtube, though (65 mustang):

Wow...sounds great, looks like his shift light comes on at close to 7500/8000 RPM....made me feel like I was driving being able to see the rearview mirror, was nice.

    Tody,

Thank you for posting the video, it was really great!
I was in Germany from 1966/1968 and was lucky enough to visit both Nurburgring and Hockenheim for Formula events and was actually at the race in 1968 where Jim Clark was killed during a Formula 2 race. Both tracks have changed some much that it's hard to believe they are the same tracks. I also remember when the Formula 1 guys boycott'd Nurburgring unless major changes were made to the track, those were the days.
    Again, thanks for sharing.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!

This is a weird question, Considering the fact that 95% of the users on here live in the United States :hmmm:

I mean if you asked about Road Atlanta or Laguna Seca it would make sense.

Or even Riverside Raceway.... I would really love it if anyone has stories about that track :bouncy:

It was closed down just 3 months after I was born

    Tody,

Thank you again for sharing those videos, road racing can be just as contagous as drag racing.............and depending on the track the fun can last a lot longer than 9 or 10 seconds.
I have my SCCA license and have driven Laguna Seca, Sears Point, and Thunderhill in Northern California, but for those of you who haven't seen some of the original F1/F2 tracks in Germany and France.................they are what started it all, and are great historic tracks.....................IMHO
