With the smaller tunnel of a 70, how much massage work will be needed to fit an AOD? Is it just hammer work, or will we need to cut and weld to make it work?
Also, does it change the floor enough to affect the fit of the carpet?
    Thanks,
    70G

I'd be interested to know the answer to this also.

Well we have decided to go with a 1970 302 and a C4 combo for the time being. Lots of fab and rebuilding to do anyway, so am keeping the rest kind of simple.
I never did get any responses to my AOD tunnel question, so maybe some day we will know.

We installed an AOD in my 71 Maverick Grabber and we had to re-work some of the floor ( not too much ) and we also had to make a different Transmission Support . The 70 Tunnel is smaller than the 71 so I would expect you will
have to perform some 'surgery' in certain areas. The carpet I installed was put in by a local installer and he MADE it
on site and sewed the edges and seams . I wish you success .

I have a 1970 2 door with a 351 c and aod in it i had to modify the transmission crossmember and i used a mark 7 floor shifter. I dont have any floor mods, i did have to use a permanent magnet starter to get it to work with the cleveland block as the stock starter was too big in diameter to fit the bellhousing, it hit the block.

What year Mark 7 did the shifter come out of. Pulled out a 200/C4. Going back with 250/AOD.

1988 mark 7 is what i got the floor shifter from. The shifter is almost flat on the bottom except for a rounded part which i cut off flat . I bolted it to the hump and drilled a small hole for the cable to go through. Get the brackets for the cable on the transmission and the manual lever that goes in the case of the transmission that might be different than your transmission depending on what you got it from. My cleveland engine maverick has a van transmission it shifts better (firmer) than the smooth lincoln shifting

Look at how the mark shifter xable is routed to get where the hole needs to be.
