I drove my Comet to work today. One of my customers saw it and sent the following in an email:

Hey ole man how's it going.
I want that comet... that Is identical to the one I took my road test on all those yrs ago
Mine had a 302 boss with a 4 speed, man was that thing fun...

    :rofl2:

Should have replied, "so you are the guy who had the only one made, would be worth $100,000 now"...

If I had a nickel for every "Boss 302" this or that people claimed to have seen:coco:............Perhaps he was counting "reverse" as the 4th gear in that tranny.

    Here is a 69.5 with a Boss 302 that had a Doug Nash 5-speed...but it's not a Comet. :stirthepot:

I wonder what ever happened with that boss 302 maverick that the guy built a few years ago. Never seen anymore about it after it was featured in I believe in car craft.

I had 10 of those Boss 302 Mavericks - a dime a dozen back in the day :victory:

I have not run into this so much with the Maverick or Comet, but when I had the Mach 1 out and running it was the same story with everyone that once had a Mustang, if their car was a V8 it was a Boss 302. It seems most folks think what makes a 302 a Boss is just the name.

Same thing with Chevys back in the day - everything was "it's got a big block" but they would never open the hood

The Maverick in my avatar is my dads Gasser from 1970 with a Boss 302 and Nash 5 speed. My Maverick also had a Boss with c4 for a couple years.

It would have been a better street motor in a lighter Maverick than a Mustang. I ran a 4.30 gear with advanced cam timing in my 70 Boss 302 just to get some throttle response on the street.
