    I have a 6 cylinder in my 70 Grabber.

It was running perfect and then last week it started to give me problems. Cold start is perfect and it runs great!!! I drive it around and it still runs great.

After I shut it off and let it sit for a little bit I try to start it and its flooded. I can get it running by holding the pedal to the floor, and then it runs like crap. Once it starts to idle (barely) it will run rough, gas will spit out of the bottom of the carb and it stalls.

I had it rebuilt by a reputable shop, installed it and it ran great....then after driving it for an hour it did the same thing again.

What can it be? I'm trying to avoid swapping my 302 from my '73 in it since its like 100 degrees out.

Anyone have this problem? Could the carb just be bad?

humm, I don't know much about carbs but sounds to me like the float might be set too high or the valve on the inlet tube where the float hits Don't know how it's called" is not sealing good:huh:

    I just had a thought......

Could the fuel pump be bad? Maybe it's pumping too much fuel and causing and causing too much fuel pushed into the carb?

You have a float/needle and seat problem or a percolation problem.Fuel gets hot in float bowl and starts to expand and leak into intake. This will cause the hard start/flooding condition you are experiencing.

The only thing I can think of as far ar the fuel spitting out the bottom??...of the carb.
Cold fuel hitting hot fuel in the float bowl.Toss an ice cube in boiling hot water...it will literally explode from the temp variation.Cold fuel will absorbe heat faster than hot fuel will cool off...soo on that theory. The fuel is expanding rapidly in the float bowl causing it to pump itself out the boosters.Or I could be so far off base that you think I am nuts...
    Does your choke work properly???

Sorry I am on a tangent here...Fuel is spitting out the bottom of the carb?
    Spitting out,into the throttle bores??
Or is it spitting out onto the intake from between the carb and intake gasket???

nah, I broke my throttle cable and that was reason enough for me to swap in the 5.0

    Thanks Frank!
