How difficult is it to remove and replace the dash pad on a '71-'72 Maverick or Comet?

My question is, why do you ask? I don't say that to be derrogatory. I say it because regardless of how "difficult" it may be, it still needs to be done if the pad on there is damaged, right?. It's a hassle but not "rocket surgery". Having small hands helps. The instrument cluster and heater control panel need to be removed, as well as the plastic lower dash section. Gotta reach your hands up under there. If I remember right (it's been 32 years), there are 18 speed-nuts that fasten the dashpad to the metal dash. One of them (don't remember which one) is a pain to get to, which is why I left it out when installing the good pad (17 are more than enough to hold it on securely and no one ever sees them anyway)...

The fasteners on the ends are what will give you the worst struggle. Do them first, while you are still fresh, instead of tired and angry. It will go better. LOL.
The one on the passenger side is easy if the entire A/C unit isn't in the car . It is a lot of gymnastics if you have to work around it.
The driver side needs to have the gauge cluster and wiper control taken out if I am remembering correctly.

Tiny hands are key to get in there. Go slow and watch out for cutting yourself. Everywhere are sharp edges. Disconnect your battery too.
