Hi everybody. I have a 73 Comet with a 250 straight six. I've found front disc brake conversions for sale and the company states that I do not have to change my front spindles to use their disc conversion kits. Is this true? Are the v8 spindles different? Needed? The company is CSRP, classic services restoration parts. Thank you.

All I have read, drum brake cars do not need spindle change. Mind you -- this is what I have read, have no experience with those setups...

Yep it's true.... I was going to go that route before I found a Maverick disc brake setup.

some conversions require some machining to the drum front spindles.

Most kits offered these days use orig drum spindle, no difference in 6 or 8...

I'm curious how the caliper bracket/ slide will bolt up.

I have CRSP brakes on my car, and they work great! The previous owner had them out on, but when I asked about it, it did not require any mods. I believe it is based off the 67 or 68 mustang four piston caliper design.

And those used same spindle as drum...

Actually that's for '67 only(also Fairlane used same), the '68 had new single piston caliper and unique disc spindle... That's what I have on my Comet...

Thanks alot guys. So I guess with the CRSP kit I can just use my drum spindles. Saves me from looking for different ones. Plus money.

So does the caliper bolt up with original spindles or does the CRSP kit come with an adapter?
