Need an automatic C4 transmission needs to be 6 bolt pattern to fit a 302 5.0 Ltd engine and 28 yoke or whatever its called. Just need one to get me by for about 8 months and I will buy a brand new one. I have $300.00 cash and a FMX transmission you can have with it. :yup: Ive called all the transmission shops in town and no one has one. Not even a junk yard has a C4 here

I have a working C4 sitting in my garage. Not sure if you want to drive to Houston to pick it up.

Was behind a Maverick 302 for 50k miles. Stock valvebody. Leaks (slow drip) at the shifter linkage, like they all do.

    What is an FMX?

A FMX is a transmission ford rushed out. It's a decent Transmission but not cost effective to modify like the c4. The middle part of it is made of cast iron and bellhousing and the tail are aluminum. This will bolt up to my motor no problem. The drive shaft and floor shifter won't work with it. Houston is about 5-6 hours from me. I have a guy that has a c4 I'm suppose to check
Out shortly. Is there anyway to fix the leaking shifter? If this guy doesnt have what I need I just might make the drive.

I don't need the FMX, then. And honestly, I would like to have the C4 out of the garage. Kept it at work in a storage building but we sold the building and I had to bring it home to my garage.

I think it is the o-ring under the shifter. Really common problem.

i found a fresh rebuilt C4 for cheap and couldn't pass on it.

Plans were to learn how to rebuild a C4 using the old one, but just haven't had time to mess with it.

We will be home all weekend, and I am taking half day off Tuesday afternoon. Or we can arrange some other time, if you decide to make the drive.

I was just looking at ebay and there was one used for $300.

I couldn't charge that for one with 50k and 35 years on it. $200?

Asking an expert if my tranny is worth $200. Don't want to rip you off.

So if he writes back and says worth less, I will let you know the revised lower price.

If he says worth more, I will still give it to you for $200.

This blows. Everything was exactly the same 6 bolt pattern, yoke went in, same spline. Bought it brought it back to the house its different by 1inch. The bellhousing is off. Its CL they dont do refunds. I should have bought the one from you. Im going to sell these and buy yours. Will yours fit a 5.0?

Is it the input shaft that is too long? Maybe it can be changed. I have a 72 V8 C4 if you want to come and take a look at it. I'll be home this weekend in Forney, between Mesquite and Terrell.

What is the weight of a C4, maybe he can ship by Greyhound Bus.

Ran it on my 5.0 for a while before I swapped with the rebuilt, so YES!

Same exact tranny except for the valvebody. i modified mine a bit, and transferred it to the rebuilt transmission.

But I cannot guarantee anything on the old one either. It IS 35 yrs old and has 55k miles on it, and been sitting for 2 years. But other than the drip, it ran fine when I took it off.
