Checked with my local glass shop for a new windshield and they tell me that there is plenty of over-seas glass (very cheap quality as they put it) on the market .,,,,but to get a decent quality glass will cost about $250. Seems like an ok deal......don't want something to crack when the wind blows. I'm up north (Connecticut) ....even though the car will not be driven in harsh weather it seems like an OK price.
Paid 140 for the stang installed about 2 weeks ago. But i would wait for someone else to chime in since i have never heard about oversea glass.
Yes.....that included installation.......But now I'm thinking about just buying the glass and letting it sit until I'm ready for it because I will need a headliner installed and it sounds like getting that done before the glass is installed is the way to go. Just thought I'd get the glass to add to my parts pile!
Im thinking abt new windshield sometime in the future. My windshield is not cracked or anything but has a lot of tiny specks like someone might have been grinding metal close to the glass and the particles etched the glass. The reason I say this is cuz I did something similiar to my rear house door grinding metal w/ my angle grinder B4 I figured that was the reason my glass got etched. Anyway, it's only real issue when driving facing the sun. Is the price your quote w/ installation? Is that for tinted glass? I have not priced any here in Chicago area yet but it's in future plan unless I can polish or somehow eliminate the distortion
glss is pretty cheap here but it is just about an annual thing to get it replaced. they use crushed gravel on the roads in the winter. I paid $125 for the glass in my motorhome, 91 Ford E-350, $115 for 65 Comet, installed and just got a price quote of $198 for both sheilds in my two 79 F-350's, installed and tinted, $99 each. If I want Chinese glass it would be $79 each but the guy that I have do all mine don't use it. He said that it seperates in the lamination and leaves bubbles.
I think I payed 200 for a brand new PPG windshield. Getting a "Installed" price from a glass shop isn't always correct, as they don't realize you'll need a new gasket, and they are not the easiest to find, if you don't know where to look.
They cant use the silicon on our cars? or is that a factory correct option:16suspect I would think they would beable to.
oh Its one of them tricky words i didnt learn in school, and my computer doesn't like acrobat 9:sorry: So can we use it!
