Long time maverick owner since 2001 as my first car. I wanted to ask how people are finding the current market for the Maverick/Comet. Back when I bought it I had lots of people shake their heads and when ever I brought it to a car show I would always overhear “why would you buy a Maverick?” Easy answer I couldn’t afford a mustang.
I’m considering putting mine up for sale this spring and just wanted to ask what has your experience been selling these cars? Is still just a poor man’s mustang? The popularity of these cars has seem to turn around since I fist bought it and no longer get the negative comments about the car. Just trying to see what the market is demanding for these cars had it appraised in 2021 for 33K Canadian
    1973 Maverick Grabber (clone)
347” 400+HP Engine with FAST EFI
    500hp rated T5
All new rebuilt and lowered suspension with power steering
    4 wheel Willlwoid disk brakes
It was painted in 2003 but has been garage kept since then some life scratches but still shines

Why would you sell a nice car like that? My '73 was My first car 41 years ago and I will never sell it. The Maverick is not a "poor man's Mustang". It's a re-skinned Falcon. Low budget car. Was never meant to be a "pony car" but can be easily turned into one as you have done to yours.
While I am no expert on what the current market is, your asking price does not seem unrealistic to me...

Love the car. I can't help you with market value, but whatever you find it's worth I wish it were in my garage.

If you have to pick one - the halo top is the best of all the vinyl roofs on these cars.
    Your car looks great!

I have to agree: Poor man's Mustang. That is not a slam. It is the reality of the situation. If anything, it is more of a slight to the car's owner than it is to the car itself. :D

As far as value....check all the usual market sources. That is what the appraisers do. eBay, the big auctions, etc.

Thanks for the comments all. I wish i could keep every car but space and finance dictates some decisions. the halo Roof and the glove "shelf" have always been my favourite quirks of this car that make it a bit different. Its in the classifieds now if any one is looking for a new car. (Canadian$ so thats like a 25% discount for you US guys)

I have to disagree on the "poor man's Mustang" because nowadays it seems 'different is cool'. Classic Mustangs will always be sought after but I think it's easy to see the Mustang DNA in the Mavs/Comets and in a sea of more mainstream muscle/pony cars, our cars stand out.

Do Chevy guys consider Vegas and Novas as a poor man's Camaro?

Good luck with the sale, very nice car!

Vegas are compact cars in the same category as the Pinto. People have stuffed V-8s in both, but they would never be referred to as "poor man's" Camaro or Mustang (not that it really matters)...
