My Treasure Hunt collection is very weak. I sold most for the real Merc Comet and parts cars, it was the deal I worked out with my wife. I pretty much just pick up cars that are cool and Treasure Hunts now. And attend Kmart collector days just for my five cars

I see a vision of myself at X o' clock in the morning sifting through the Hot Wheels at my Wal Mart to find every last Mav in there.

The car is coming out in mix F and mix E is just now showing up on the shelves so about 2 months is a good guess. I've been collecting Hotwheels for the last 12 years or so and I'm stoked to see this car finally come out. If they hold true to form, there will probably be 3 different colors released throughout the coming year! If the 2009 Vega got 3 colors then the Mav deserves it too! I'm figuring they will go with a yellow, red and then maybe light blue??
I'm out hunting for new Hotwheels every week and when I find the Maverick, I will post it here so you know when to go look for it in the stores!!

It is about friggin' time!!!! .... whoo-hoo!

Chrome valances .... that is just because of how they are made. The chassis is plastic, and that is easy to vacuum-chrome. If you want realistic bumpers on a car that sell for less that $1, you are going to be getting chrome valances too ... it is all one piece molded to the chassis.

My own personal answer to that is paint (done by me), but you won't see this from HWs on a $1 car.

Other than that, the details look pretty decent.

OK ... it has been 32 years since they made the last Maverick (not including special editions) ...
When are they ever going to make their FIRST Comet ... ever!?!

You silly Wabbit, those aren't chrome valances, those are full size bumpers ('74 and up). They have the wrong hood on that Maverick.:biglaugh:

Kmart days are about once every quarter year. They usually have about 20 sealed cases. You go in early on the Saturday they are holding the event. They give you a ticket. You stand in a long line or form a circle around the stack of HotWheels for an hour. Then if your lucky and they call your ticket number you get to be the first one to open a new Kmart ONLY case and buy what you want from it. Sometimes you score a Treasure Hunt and sometimes you don't. Also some of the cars are exclusive colors from these cases only. You need to keep track of this on the Hot Wheels collector web site. I kind of slowed down on my collecting in the last few years. To many new cars being released. Its tough to keep up with them all since Mattel got so greedy. There use to be 12 new first editions with two or three variations on each. Now there are 40 plus first editions with tons of variations. Not counting all of the other series releases plus the limited edition ones. Any one out the looking for RLC cars I have complete sets for 2001,2002,2003,2004. Thinking about unloading em.
