HI to all you maverick lovers i,m new to this site but not to mavericks.I own one of the 1970 71 maverick pro stock cars Darrell and larrys MR ROLLBAR maverick it was raced with a 427 SOHC engine. I also have a stock 1970 orange maverick that i plan on putting a 482ci tunnelport engine in and painting it to match the pro stock car for the street. My other FORDS are 2010 fusion, 1997 powerstroke,1972 F350 flat bed (for sale) 1972 F100 4x4 short box also (for sale),1969 F250 crewcab long box, 1968 F100 step side short bed.1967 F100 short bed fleet side.I owned but sold a 1969 pro street F100 with a 427 SOHC engine in it.I live in IOWA and would be happy to help with pro stock maverick questions or 1967-1972 truck questions.

Welcome from SE Iowa. I'm building a clone of a '70 Pro Stock out of a 69.5.

Would love to see your original car. Does it still have the Maverick front suspension or was it updated to something else?

    I'm a newb but,

pro stock typically means raced by a pro racing team.
pro street means its a big wheel motor stand built by some dude.

To all of you that don't know in 1970 NHRA (national hot rod association) (DRAG RACING) created a new professional class and called it PRO STOCK the other pro classes at the time were Top fuel eliminator,Top gas eliminator and Funny car eliminator.Pro stock mavericks in 1970 were raced with 427 SOHC and BOSS 429 engines some had 427 tunnelport engines. My car was one of the 427 SOHC powerd cars most were hand built and from what i have seen no two are alike. My car was bought from FORD by DARRELL DROKE as a blue on blue car and then painted orange, black and yellow on the outside The doors are letterd DARRELL and LARRY and was called MR ROLLBAR because Darrell had a company called DLR rollbars. It was raced on the west coast in division 7 the car was number 1 in division 7 points until late in 1970 when Bill Bagshaw in the Red Light Bandit 426 HEMI DODGE beat him out at the very end of year. The front suspension was moved outward 3" the A arms were then shortened 1" to bring the front tires back in so they did not hit the fenders. Remember it is 1970 and all the car had to do is make it a 1/4 mile in a straight line without crashing. Safety was not what it is today and they only had to go around corners when they were going slow.I will post some pictures then and now when i can get some help from my wife.
    Mitch
