Thank you very much i can't wait to show all the maverick and HP FORD stuff i have or have had to people that like MAVERICKS and fast FORDS. Mitch
HI Pro stock is a pro class in NHRA IHRA that started in 1970 NHRA as modified production cars it is still a NHRA IHRA class today.Pro street cars are cars that look like pro stock cars only they are street legal and driven on the street. In 1970 FORD racers used mavericks and mustangs with 427 SOHC,BOSS 429s and some 427 tunnelport engines for power.Mercury racers used comets and cougars with the same engines. In 1971 some racers pulled there large engines out and installed BOSS 351s so there cars could get closer to the 2700lb minimum weight plus they were cheaper to build and get.Pro stock cars today run 500ci engines in NHRA and 800ci plus in IHRA.
It`s just a real shame now that since the NHRA went to the 500ci limit, ford is not as competitive in Pro Stock any more.
Welcome. Your vehicles sound very interesting and I am looking forward to seeing some pictures of them. Mavericks and Ford trucks!
I'm headed up to meet these guys and look at their cars Wednesday morning. If they let me, I'll, take pics of the cars. I'm looking forward to seeing an original Maverick Pro Stock to help my build along. I appreciate their willingness to share what they have. Stay tuned! SPark
Met both Mitch and Doug this morning and spent several hours comparing notes. Had my trailer hooked to the truck so I took my project along so we could compare things. I did not take any pictures. I'll leave it up to Mitch and Doug to share their cars with you folks. Great guys that know their Mavericks. Also got the elusive front valance I'd been shopping for! Thanks guys, we'll get together again, soon. SPark
